Small
groups form an integral part of a healthy growing church. They allow
members to introduce family, friends, neighbors and co-workers to Jesus
Christ outside the formal church setting. They are a valid expression of
what the body of Christ is supposed to be doing on the earth.
There
are many types of small groups.
1. Some
groups have members that meet to study various passages or books in the
Bible or books about biblical topics.
2.
Topical group members meet regarding a specific area of interest or growth
such as marriage, parenting, dating or relationships.
3.
Shared interest groups meet to enjoy and participate in activities that
all members enjoy. We have many examples at Union Church listed in the
church bulletin.
There
are several small groups within the Union congregation, and new ones will
be formed as people express an interest. Some groups are comprised of
those in the same "age and stage" in life and gender or a mix of ages,
life situations and gender.
If you
are interested in joining or leading a small group, please call Anne
Burke at 412-787-5493.
