“Where the mission and the gospel matters”

Union Presbyterian Church is a historic congregation (over 200 years old) experiencing a season of spiritual renewal as we go deeper and deeper in the gospel “good news” of Jesus Christ. Although we have a long history of worshiping and strong ministry presence in Robinson Township, we are undergoing a transformation from a traditional mainline church to a missional and gospel-centered community of faith focused on building mature disciples of Jesus Christ, even as we fulfill the rest of His Great Commandment and Great Commission.

We understand our missional/gospel journey to be a lifestyle where we nurture and share with others the gospel as we seek to be the Body of Christ in our communities. As a missional/gospel community of faith, we are discovering the risks and rewards of being salt and light in a world so terribly broken and so desperately needing truth, hope and the good news of Christ’s saving work.

We’ve just begun our journey of becoming a missional/gospel community of faith, but we sense we are on an adventure that will transform us and those Christ calls to join us. We have taken steps to chart a 2020 Vision, a picture of what our church will look like as the Lord continues to bless our efforts. Yet, even as we give ourselves to this vision we continue to dream of new ways we can become more intentional and effective in creating a place where all of God’s children are welcomed home, forgiven, and loved by our Heavenly Father.

So, if you are uncomfortable with bland, hum-drum mainline religion, and if you are bored to tears with self-righteous, moralistic preaching and teaching, then we invite you to join us as we explore what Christ is doing in our midst through His refreshingly disorganizing and generative Spirit. We are a community in process, a place in transition and people on the way. We sense God is doing a new work in and through us, and we look forward to embodying God’s reign of grace and reconciliation. After all, we endeavor to be a gospel people!
