Confirmation Class instructors needed!
Union Presbyterian Church’s Confirmation Class is
looking for instructors!
If you have any interest in applying for this ministry, please contact
Sally Andrews or any member of the Christian Education Committee. We
would like to have both a man and woman share the instructor
responsibilities. The students deal with exploring their personal
faith and prepare written Statements of Faith. The students also
participate in acts of service to their community. The class runs
from the first week of December until Palm Sunday in the Spring,
usually 16 to 20 weeks. The Course Book has 26 Chapters of material
to be covered in that time period. During the last three years, the
class has had success meeting during the Sunday School hour.
The next Confirmation Class will be for 7th
and 8th graders.
In the recent past 6th graders were in the Confirmation
Class. During the last two years, Union’s class and instructors
attended the Crestfield Camp and Conference Center’s Pittsburgh
Presbytery sponsored Confirmation Class Retreat Weekend. We
found that most churches hold their Confirmation Classes for 8th
grade students. By holding the class for 8th and 7th
grade students, we have a better chance to ‘catch’ a student who may
miss the class during their 7th grade year. This process
will also give our 6th grade students a chance to not miss
out on their first year of Middle School Sunday School.
