Two Libraries
Are you aware that Union
Church has two libraries? One is a children's library with many
classic stories as well as newly published books. The other is an
adult library with videos, DVD's and books. Many famous Christian
authors have written books on subjects from parenting to dealing with
a loved one who is ill. We have VHS tapes that bring the stories of
the Old Testament to life-very relevant as we are all studying the
book of Genesis. Many of our books have been presented as a memorial
to a loved one.
Please take time to browse
these rooms located in the overflow area of the sanctuary. Checking
out a book is as simple as signing your name to a 3x5 card and placing
it in the box on a bookshelf. Happy Reading!
Children's Offering
Each Sunday during the
opening of all Sunday School classes the children get an attendance
sticker, give an offering and have a prayer. Through tithing children
can help buy a goat for a family in a developing nation, rebuild a
flooded community church or pay for medical aid to children in other
countries.
Each child at Union Church
is given a box of envelopes to use for the weekly offering in Sunday
School. Parents can help children figure what ten percent of their
allowance would be and give that amount! God asks us to share our
Time, Talent and Tithes. It's a good time to begin lifetime habits.
Christmas Caroling
Christmas caroling is a fun
activity that brings a smile to many shut-ins who are visited by our
"Caravan of Carolers". Please join us on Saturday, December 13 from
1p.m. to 3p.m. as we visit many of our members, as well as some senior
centers. Song books are provided and all you need is a willing spirit
to glorify the birth of Jesus as we sing together. Hot chocolate and
cookies are served when we return to Fellowship Hall to warm up and
rest. Teens, young children and adults of all ages are welcome to join
our carpool. We will meet in the Fellowship Hall at 1p.m. to begin.

Mark your calendar to
remember the Sunday School hour (9:45a.m.-!0:45a.m.) on December 21.
All adult and children's classes will view a movie titled "The Best
Christmas Pageant Ever". This is the story of poorly-behaved children
of the Herdman family, who discover the true meaning of Christmas
through participation in a church play about the birth of Jesus. This
movie will begin on time (9:45a.m.) as we need one hour to view
it...Don't Be Late!!
Childcare During Sunday
School and Worship Services
Do you ever wonder if you
are doing all you can do to help others? Would you like to give a
hassled Mom and Dad one hour to listen and participate in the worship
service without little ones to manage? Then please call the church
office (412-787-1818) to volunteer to watch a baby or child under 4
years of age in our child care rooms. One hour is all that is required
and maybe reading a story or playing with a puzzle along with a tot.
We are so happy to provide this service to all parents with children
under age 4. |
