Do you realize that you worship in the largest
bill board in this county? If you try to tell someone where you
attend church: by giving the directions; “across the road from
Robinson Town Center”, it will immediately bring the response, “You
mean the church on the hill”. Our church has an immense impact on our
area by just being there. But, are we happy to just be there or do
you want to do more to impact our community and bring people to
Christ? Our current facility limits our ability to properly serve the
people in our area. Finding the solution to this question has been
the goal of the Building Team for several years.
The building team continues to labor to develop
the best plan possible to accomplish our mission to allow Union Church
to reach God’s children in the Robinson area. We must find a way to
get better on a tight budget; while transitioning the church
leadership.
Union Church must solve several short-comings to
accomplish our goals. We must solve the parking program, improve our
fellowship meeting capability, improve our facilities to serve other
venues and the continuous problem of “access” to all levels in our
church by all people. With these limitations to doing what we really
need to do to fulfill our Christ directed goals, we must continue to
move forward or fail in our mission. Failure should not be a solution
for our church; but attempting major improvements at the current time
would be less than prudent. What is the best way to move forward?
HOW WELL ARE WE AND OUR CHURCH GOING TO CARRY
OUT THE GREAT COMMISSION?
The building team’s current plan is to
accomplish these two goals in 2008:
1.
Develop a plan with the owner of the health center, below us,
to use their parking area for overflow on Sundays, with stairs or a
shuttle plan to always be able to accommodate all persons for Sunday
services.
2.
Bring in an engineer to review our total plan to determine the
feasibility of the concept. We must be sure that we can improve our
ability to fulfill our mission on this hill in a practical manner.
Please join us in prayer as we try to serve our
mission here at Union Church.
